Common Questions About Therapy
Do I need to have a specific problem to come to therapy?
Not at all. Some people come with a clear issue, while others feel a general sense of unease. Therapy is for anyone wanting to explore their emotional life, gain clarity, or grow personally.
What happens in the first session?
We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy and what you hope for. I’ll ask some gentle questions and explain how I work. It’s also a space for you to decide if you feel comfortable continuing
How often are sessions?
Sessions are weekly at the same time each week. This regular rhythm helps build a strong, secure therapeutic relationship.
How much are sessions?
My standard fee is £65 per 50-minute session for individual therapy and £105 per 75-minute session for couples therapy. Please contact me for corporate or employee assistance programme rates.
Do you offer low cost therapy?
Yes - I offer a limited number of reduced-fee spaces through Worthing Counselling Centre with in-person sessions held at their rooms on South St, Tarring. Please note, you must book through Worthing Counselling Centre to access these sessions.
Where is your therapy room?
I work from a quiet, private therapy room located in my garden in Worthing, West Sussex. The space is comfortable, peaceful, and dedicated solely to client sessions. I’ll share the exact address once a session is booked. There is free parking and ground-floor access. Please note: there are no bathroom facilities available.
How long will therapy last?
Some clients come for a few months, others for a year or more. We’ll review this regularly and work at a pace that feels right for you.
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes - confidentiality is a key part of therapy. The only exceptions are where there’s risk of serious harm or legal obligation. We’ll talk this through clearly in the first session.
What if I’ve never done therapy before?
That’s completely fine. Many clients are new to therapy. I’ll explain things clearly and we’ll go at your pace - there’s no expectation to “know how it works.”
Can I speak to you before booking a session?
Yes - I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so you can ask questions and get a feel for whether therapy might be right for you.
